National Rugby League (NRL)
From 1910 onwards, rugby league has held place as the premier winter sport of NSW and Queensland, and has maintained a strong following in New Zealand.
The NSWRL club competition evolved into a national competition in the 1990s, and became the National Rugby League in 1998. The NRL competition spans the traditional League areas of NSW, Queensland and New Zealand, as well as Victoria (following the introduction of the Melbourne Storm).

Co-operative Championship
The Rugby League Championship (known as Co-operative Championship due to sponsorship by the Co-operative Group) was formerly called National League One. With the inclusion of a French team in 2009 (Toulouse) it has taken a more European dimension and has changed its denomination. It acts as the second tier competition below the Super League Europe.

Co-operative Championship 1
The Rugby League Championship 1 (known as Co-operative Championship 1 due to sponsorship by the Co-operative Group) was formerly called National League Two. It is the third tier domestic competition in the United Kingdom, below the Championship.

Northern Rail Cup
The National League Cup is a rugby league competition for clubs in Great Britain's Co-operative Championship and Championship One, formerly known as the Rugby League National Leagues. (The one French club in the Championship, Toulouse Olympique, does not participate in the cup at present.) Since 2005, it has been sponsored by train operating company Northern Rail, and is thus known as the Northern Rail Cup.

NZRL Bartercard Premiership
The NZRL Bartercard Premiership is a six-team rugby league competition that began in 2008. It replaced the now-defunct Bartercard Cup competition as the highest level of rugby league in New Zealand. Matches have been broadcast on SKY Network Television and Māori Television. In 2009 the competition was mirrored by Under 18 and Under 16 grade competitions.
