With three games to play in the regular season, the Vodafone Junior Warriors are now seventh on 27 points, three clear of ninth-placed North Queensland and still only three points away from fourth spot.
After trouncing Gold Coast 52-4 last Sunday, tonight’s win also gave the Vodafone Junior Warriors back to back wins at last after a recent trend that has seen a victory followed by a defeat.
The early exchanges saw the Eels scoring twice to lead 12-0 after 20 minute but once they found their range the Vodafone Junior Warriors were again close to unstoppable.
They scored three converted tries to lead 18-12 at halftime followed by three more early in the second spell to leap to a 36-12 advantage, the 36 points accumulated in a matter of 28 minutes.
The Eels stemmed the flow with two tries of their own before standoff Shaun Johnson finished the scoring with the Vodafone Junior Warriors’ seventh try. He also kicked six goals goals from seven attempts to boost his season’s points total to 183 (prop Leeson Ah Mau kicked the final conversion).
Earlier winger Bill Tupou and centre Rusty Bristow were both among the scorers as they maintained their impressive strike rates.
Match details:

At Parramatta Stadium, Parramatta
Vodafone Junior Warriors 42 (Bill Tupou, Michael Afioga, Kurt Kara, Rusty Bristow, Nafe Seluini, John Palavi, Shaun Johnson tries; Shaun Johnson 6 conversions; Leeson Ah Mau conversion).
Parramatta Eels 22 (Ryan Morgan, Daniel Cross, Ken Fio, Rory Brien tries; Jayden Tavito 3 conversions).
Halftime: 18-12 Vodafone Junior Warriors.
Referee: Gavin West.
