The Sydney Roosters Toyota Cup side have been edged out 16-14 by the Melbourne Storm at Olympic Park on Saturday afternoon.

It was three tries a piece with goal kick ultimately making the difference with the Storm converting 2 from three to the Roosters one from the same amount of attempts.

The Tricolours were down by six points at the break before outscoring their now second placed opponents in blustery and greasy conditions.

The Roosters NYC side look safe from the wooden spoon and will avoid it narrowly for a second year running if the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles beat last placed Cronulla Sharks lose at Brookvale Oval tomorrow.
