COWBOYS coach Neil Henry last night admitted his ongoing involvement with Queensland next year was in doubt after the club failed to make the finals in his first year as coach.

While confident his absence during Origin was not the reason North Queensland missed the play-offs for a second successive season, Henry said some Cowboys officials had reservations about him continuing as the right-hand man to Maroons coach Mal Meninga.

The role of Cowboys fitness co-ordinator Billy Johnstone with Queensland was also under review.

''That will be reviewed by our board, it was only a year-by-year proposition, and on face value you would have to say they have got some reservations given how we have gone at the back end of the season,'' Henry said.

''That will be decided at a later date, Billy and myself being involved in Origin next year. We would certainly like to be involved. It has been four series now, and to go for five would be fantastic but I am employed by the club, and that will be a decision to be made at the board level.

''It is draining, and as Craig Bellamy says … it is 27 or 28 days away from your team.''

Henry said the Cowboys had been consistent this season, with their biggest losing margin 20 points.
