HE has led them on their dream run. Now Parramatta fullback Jarryd Hayne must nervously wait to see if he will join them in the Grand Final.

Hayne was placed on report for kneeing Bulldogs winger Bryson Goodwin as he scored a try after just four minutes into last night's preliminary final blockbuster at ANZ Stadium.

His fate rests in the hands of the match review committee, which will decide if the Dally M player of the year is consigned to the same fate as Storm captain Cam Smith last season in missing a Grand Final through suspension.

"It [the incident] is a bit sketchy," said Hayne, seemingly unconcerned afterwards. "I was just going for the ball and I think I probably didn't get in the best position to get out of it.

"I thought there was nothing else I could do. I was a little surprised I was put on report. I just went for the ball.

The tackle attracted an eight-point try and Hayne remonstrated with referee Tony Archer, insisting that he had "kept his feet back".

Hayne has no carryover points but does have a prior offence for a dangerous throw against the Broncos in round 13 last season. The bottom line is he can escape suspension if he attracts a grade one charge and pleads guilty.

"A little clumsy, but not malicious at all," Eels coach Daniel Anderson said. "There's not much I can do about it. There's no use jumping up and down. I thought every 50-50 call went against us tonight. I'll let people do their job. They're not going to listen to me."

Eels hooker Matthew Keating also faces an anxious wait after he was placed on report in the 38th minute for a chicken wing tackle on Bulldogs prop Ben Hannant.

"I thought I saw a couple of other incidents in the game that had similarities and resembled that," Anderson said. "It was an awkward finish to a tackle and Matt let go at the very end. I don't think that it's anything."

Bulldogs coach Kevin Moore was not so sure, describing both the Hayne and Keating incidents as "dodgy".

"Bryson Goodwin was in Disneyland for the rest of the game for something pretty dodgy," Moore said.

"And then you've got a front-rower who comes off with a partially dislocated shoulder for something that also looked pretty dodgy."

Everything has fallen into place so sweetly for Hayne in the past two months you often wonder if there has been divine intervention in the way things have unfolded.

But it's fair to suggest his moment of laziness, which temporarily forced Goodwin from the field, is the first time in a while the game hasn't treated him kindly.

Inexplicably, the next one came late in he first half when he let the ball trickle past him and Bulldogs centre Josh Morris stretched out and got a fingertip to the ball to give his side a 12-6 halftime lead.

It had to happen sooner or later that Hayne proved he is human. But there were also moments to remind you he is Superman.

Hayne has become such a threatening and dangerous player, he has effectively become as elusive as a ghost. If he doesn't have room, he seems able to slip himself into reverse to find some. Time stands still. So does the defence. In the first half, he produced a booming 40-20 kick to bury his side deep in Bulldogs territory. Minutes later, he popped a ball for replacement forward Joe Galuvao to score.

In the second, he produced the money play of the night when he touched the ball twice in one movement to put Tim Mannah over. At times, Hayne appears to do everything with nonchalance. It shouldn't surprise that he was acting the same cool way when asked how the incident would affect preparations for the biggest game of his life. "I'm going to prepare for a Grand Final," he said.

PARRAMATTA 22 (L Burt, J Galuvao, T Mannah, D Mortimer tries, L Burt 3 goals) bt BULLDOGS 12 (B Goodwin, J Morris tries, H El Masri 2 goals) at ANZ Stadium. Referee: Tony Archer, Ben Cummins. Crowd: 74,549

I didn't watch the game, so i haven't seen it myself, be a shame if someone who has won the "Dally M player of the year" award gets a spell on the sidelines.
