GREAT Britain Community Lions coach Jimmy Taylor has named a 28-man training squad ahead of the Lion's Test match with France A at Featherstone on Wednesday, March 17 (7.30pm). Skirlaugh supply four players in Steve Atkinson, Matty Bower, Sean Wildbore and Jordan Precious, while East Hull prop Lee Brown is also once again in the squad. "We had a couple of hit-up games against Dewsbury Rams and Leigh Centurions and they proved to be very useful," said Taylor. "During the games we used 46 players and it's been a very difficult job to reduce the number down to 28." The 28-man squad will now meet up for a training session at Hopwood Hall, Rochdale, on March 14, where an 18-man squad will be named to take on France later that week at the Bigfellas Stadium. "The 28-man squad we've named will now form the train-on squad for both the French game and our forthcoming tour of South Africa in July," added Taylor. "However, all players should still be aware that if they didn't make the cut this time they are certainly not out of the running and could receive a call up at any time. "It's therefore important they maintain their fitness and continue to play well for the club sides." Great Britain Community Lions squad: Lee Brown (East Hull), Steve McDermott (Halton Simms Cross), Paul Hunt (Halton Simms Cross), Tony Baker (Ince Rose Bridge), Scott Winstanley (Ince Rose Bridge), Carl Roden (Ince Rose Bridge), Wayne Leyland (Ince Rose Bridge), Carl Redford (Leigh East), Gary Middlehurst (Leigh East), Ryan Smith (Leigh Miners), David Dunwell (Normanton Knights), Chris Walker (Oulton Raiders), Mark Holmes (Oulton Raiders), Danny Hardy (Oulton Raiders), Jimmy Bardgett (RAF), Steve Atkinson (Skirlaugh), Mathew Bower (Skirlaugh), Sean Wildbore (Skirlaugh), Jordan Precious (Skirlaugh), Andy Lake (St Albans), Kevin Thompson (Wath Brow Hornets), Gavin Corfield (Wigan St Judes), Paul Pendlebury (Wigan St Judes), Anthony Gallear (Wigan St Patricks), Anthony Atherton (Wigan St Patricks), Joe Budd (York Acorn), Kyle Palmer (York Acorn), Tommy Hill (York Acorn) http://www.sporthull.co.uk/amateurrugby/news/Hull-GB-squad/article-1885483-detail/article.html |
