Round one has seen everything we have come to expect from the NRL premiership. We've picked six key talking points of the round. Now we want your thoughts. Email them now.

1) Season Kicks Off With A Bang
The season-opening "derbies" between keen rivals commenced with a finals-like intensity, St George Illawarra defeating Parramatta in a match many pundits have suggested could be replayed in the NRL grand final. Dragons captain Ben Hornby went down in history as the first try-scorer of the 2010 NRL season, the halfback crossing less than 24 hours after being listed as a doubtful starter. How did you rate the intensity and standard of round one?

2) As Good As It Gets
While we're talking of St George Illawarra, let's pay credit to their remarkable 94 per cent completion record against Parramatta. Such a statistic, if repeated through the season, will see the Dragons being mighty difficult to defeat. That said, you'd hope such a completion rate would see you score more than 18 points and win by more than six points. Does the scoreline say more about Parra's resilience than it does about the Dragons offence?

3) Stormin' Norman
Brisbane Broncos fullback Corey Norman made a memorable NRL debut against North Queensland Cowboys. Brisbane's latest wunderkind, signed from Gold Coast Titans' backyard for $1000, produced a man-of-the-match performance in stopping three tries and giving the final pass for Brisbane's opening two four-pointers. He might be an essential Fantasy NRL purchase at 2.0 for round two and beyond. Is Corey Norman the next Broncos superstar?

4) Knights' Opening Gambit
Canterbury-Banktown-Newcastle Knights at ANZ Stadium was a home banker for all but the most ardent Novocastrians. But the Knights were too big, too strong, too quick, too committed for the Bulldogs, and they thoroughly deserved their four-point win. The Bulldogs were also left to lament the retirement of superboot Hazem El Masri given that Michael Ennis missed four kicks at goal. Have we underestimated the Knights? Overvalued the Dogs?

5) The Price Paid For Success
Former Queensland Origin hooker P.J. Marsh has had to call time on his 10-year NRL career, after being so paralysed by back pain that he couldn't get out of bed while in camp with the Indigenous All Stars team. Marsh now needs disc replacement surgery so he can "live a normal life". Marsh won't be the last NRL player to retire this year because of injury, but he's the first. How will you remember P.J. Marsh?

6) Revitalised Roosters
Todd Carney's NRL return was almost forgotten in the hype surrounding South Sydney's forward pack ahead of the Sunday blockbuster. But Carney proved the real talking point after Sydney Roosters' 36-10 victory. The former Canberra bad boy became the Chooks' new golden child with a man-of-the-match performance on debut; his combination with halfback Mitchell Pearce leaving Roosters fans crowing long and hard. Did the Carney-inspired Roosters show enough to now be considered top-eight material? Link
