The second and expanded Scandinavian Cup Rugby League 9s are set to kick off next Saturday (10th April) in Gothenburg, Sweden featuring eight sides. The inaugural competition held last May in Oslo was won by London Anzacs, who beat five other teams to claim the trophy.

Beaten finalists last time, Team Alpenstoff from Germany return and will face seven others from within the Nordic nations; Spartacus 1 (Sweden), Spartacus 2 (Sweden), Vänersborg Rugby Club (Sweden), Borås Rugby Club (Sweden), Lillesröm Lions RL (Norway) Oslo Rugby Club (Norway) and a proposed Denmark XIII.

The tournament is being played at Spartacus rugby club which is based on the west coast of Sweden, within an hour’s travel of Vänersborg and Borås. Organiser Scott Edwards commented, “I'm hoping that the tournament will prove to those who participate that League is a great game and that it can fit in here in Sweden. Like in Oslo last year, the aim is to select a Swedish XIII that can meet a Norwegian XIII later in the year.”
