(UKPA) Richard Silverwood, one of Super League's six full-time referees, has been appointed to take charge of Friday's Anzac Test between Australia and New Zealand at Melbourne's AAMI Park. The 33-year-old from Mirfield, West Yorkshire, also refereed last year's encounter in Brisbane and was in charge of the World Club Challenge clash between Leeds and Melbourne at Elland Road earlier this year. The match, which will officially open Australia's newest sporting stadium, was on Monday declared a 30,000 sell-out. "The fans are in for a great match and, given the rectangular design of the stadium, the best atmosphere they could hope for at a rugby league game," said Australia Rugby League chairman Colin Love. The stadium will also be the venue for the Four Nations match between Australia and England in October. Copyright © 2010 The Press Association. All rights reserved. |
