HERE'S WHAT THE SHERIFF SAYS!

Great to see the Cowboys back in the winners' circle with an upset against the Roosters – the return of Matthew Bowen was a welcome sight for all Cowboys members!

The Cowboys desperately need to win this week to get their season on track with the round 11 bye following. All going to plan, they would be on the edge of the top 8 leading into Origin I. Let's see how the teams match up!

Attack: Seymour, Maloney, Rovelli and Morgan are not in the top echelon of halves in the game (yet?). Their form will be crucial to victory in this game though, as the likes of Tonga and Tate will need to capitalise on their good work. It is too much to expect Bowen to make the difference so soon after returning from injury.

Defence: If the Cowboys want to win they must defend like they did against the Roosters. It has been a long time coming but the team showed some defensive resolve when defending their try line and it was great! The Warriors do not defend well, often retreating in defence, so a quick play of the balls by the Cowboys will be crucial.

Kicking game: Seymour, Maloney and Co have respectable kicking games. Rovelli needs to find the grass more when kicking long. Wherever possible, the Cowboys need to use Bowen in long kick options.

Bench: The bench will be very important for the Cowboys due to the short turnaround and travel impositions placed on the team. The scheduling of games by Channel 9 and Fox is creating an inequitable competition and needs to be addressed.

The Cowboys casualty ward currently contains Thurston, Webb and O'Donnell. Can they return this week and inspire the team?

North Queensland have won four of their last five matches against the Warriors. The Warriors have lost their last three and seven of their last nine matches at Mt Smart. They have not lost four consecutive home matches since Rd 13, 2007.

The Sheriff's prediction is for the Cowboys to prevail in golden point with a Matt Bowen field goal!!
