The Vodafone Junior Warriors recovered from a 0-20 deficit to stun Newcastle 28-26 and vault up the NYC points table after today's 23rd-round encounter at Mount Smart Stadium.

Only a week ago the Vodafone Junior Warriors had their six-match winning streak ended by Cronulla and seemed destined to suffer a second straight loss today when the Knights held a 20-0 lead with 20 minutes to play.

On the back of numerous errors the Vodafone Junior Warriors weren't on their game for the opening hour but one moment of Glen Fisiiahi magic ignited a sensational recovery which would see the home side score five tries and 28 points in a withering burst.

Fisiiahi sped onto a last tackle Newcastle kick, scythed through the defensive line and his devastating speed did the rest on a 60-metre surge for his 12th try of the season. With Shaun Johnson converting it was the signal for the Vodafone Junior Warriors to go on a rampage as Carlos Tuimavave and Johnson scored in the 63rd and 65th minutes to leave their side just 18-20 down.

There was a setback to the comeback plans when Newcastle stopped the bleeding of points by scoring a converted try to take what seemed to be a vital eight-point lead at 26-18.

It mattered not to the Vodafone Junior Warriors. They came back at the visitors with Matt Robinson gathering a kick and putting the ball down near the dead ball line for a try that was hotly disputed by the Newcastle players. With Johnson's conversion the score was 24-26 with four minutes to play.

Back came the Vodafone Junior Warriors again and in the 79th minute centre Siuatonga Likiliki powered over from dummy half on the last tackle to give his side one of the more remarkable wins of the the NYC season.

It lifted the Vodafone Junior Warriors to 31 points and a brief hold on second spot until South Sydney beat Melbourne later in the afternoon.
