JUSTIN Morgan is not surprised to see Brian Noble turn Crusaders into real play-off contenders in his first season in charge.

But Hull KR's coach is determined to stop the Welsh side from making the end-of-season knock-out competition.

Morgan's men take on Noble's side at Wrexham on Saturday, with the Crusaders needing to win to have a chance of making the top eight.

Rovers hammered Noble's troops 54-10 at Craven Park earlier in the season, but Morgan is aware his side will have to work harder for the two points on offer this time around.

Competing against Castleford for the final play-off place, a win for the Welsh side and a defeat or draw for the Tigers at St Helens will see the Wrexham-based club make the play-offs in only their second Super League season.

That's one season earlier than Morgan did it with Rovers, underlining the superb efforts of Noble in north Wales.

"Brian has done a great job at Crusaders this year," Morgan told the Mail.

"They deserve to be in the play-offs.

"But I'll still be sending my team there to beat them on Saturday.

"We were joking about things at the weekend during the Challenge Cup final because his hopes of reaching the play-offs lie in my team's hands. But we'll be doing all we can to make sure they aren't in the play-offs."

If Rovers prevent Crusaders reaching the play-offs it will be a rare experience for Noble, who has featured in them in all-but one season as a Super League coach.
