Warriors hookers Alehana Mara and Lewis Brown say they want to improve their NRL team's communication skills as they seek to get their season back on track against Penrith on Monday.
Last year's NRL finalists have had an up and down season, typified by a loss to the Melbourne Storm after being up 12-0 in the first half.
Mara and Brown took on international hooker Cameron Smith against the Storm, and Mara says Smith's ability to run his team is something he would like to emulate.
"When we were attacking I could just hear him at marker just picking his players up, and you could hear him constantly," Mara said.
"There's some weaknesses in my game that I do want to improve on and talking is one of them. That's vital and that's what we're working on as a team."
Brown says the message could apply to all the Warriors players.
"Our whole team could take a bit of light out of that. We all need to communicate to each other, I think it would make everyone's job easier."
Mara says the Warriors showed in their 22-12 loss to the Storm, in which they led 12-0 at one time, that they could match any team in the NRL and he hopes they bring more of that skill and commitment to their match with Penrith.
"I felt like we were on top for 20 minutes, but it's an 80 minute game at the end of the day. We've just got to do what we've been doing every week, but for 80 minutes."
Brown says it will be "a bit weird" playing against a team he has signed to play for in 2013 but says it won't make any impact on his game.
"I'm just going to treat it like any other game and I suppose I'll get to see the surroundings of my new home for next year."
